Dr. Hutcheson serves as Director of Ophthalmology for WMCHealth and is Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at New York Medical College, the academic affiliate of Westchester Medical Center, the flagship of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth). She envisions Advanced Eye Specialty Services as a hub of communication, information and referrals for the regional ophthalmology community.
Dr. Hutcheson’s specialties include evaluation of pediatric genetic, retinal and complex ocular conditions; medical and surgical management of adult strabismus (misalignment of the eyes) and double vision; and pediatric cataracts and cataract surgery.
Prior to joining WMCHealth, Dr. Hutcheson oversaw a charity organization providing medical and surgical humanitarian care to indigent patients. She has served as Chief of Ophthalmology at Sidra Medical and Research Center and the Weill Cornell School of Medicine in Qatar, where she led the Division of Pediatric Ophthalmology. Dr. Hutcheson also has worked at the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC, and the University of Maryland Medical Center.
Throughout Dr. Hutcheson’s career, she has been involved in academic medicine, teaching physician residents and fellowship students in ophthalmology and participating in research and professional organizations. She has published or been a contributing author of more than 40 peer-reviewed academic publications and has been an invited guest professor nationally and internationally.
Dr. Hutcheson received specialty training in pediatric ophthalmology at Emory University. She holds a master’s degree in business administration from George Washington University and is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
