Board Certification: Internal Medicine. Ophthalmology and Oculoplastic Surgery
Dr. Bortz is Chief of the Orbit and Oculoplastic Service at Westchester Medical Center. He has cared for and performed surgery on more than 7,000 patients. He has treated orbital fractures, periocular trauma, orbital and periocular tumors, orbital and periocular infections, eyelid malpositions, lacrimal disorders (tearing) and periocular cosmetic surgery.
In addition, Dr. Bortz teaches and supervises residents. He is Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at New York Medical College, the academic affiliate of Westchester Medical Center, and has been Chief of Oculoplastic Surgery at Westchester Medical Center for 30 years. After completing a residency in internal medicine and training in emergency medicine, Dr. Bortz completed a residency in ophthalmology at New York Medical College and a fellowship in oculoplastics at Albany Medical College. He has been chosen as one of the Top Doctors in Westchester County by Castle Connolly in 2013, 2014 and 2015 and was most recently honored with a top instructor award in the ophthalmology residency. He formerly was Director of Oculoplastics at Metropolitan Hospital after completing his fellowship in oculoplastics.
