Dr. Malekan received his bachelor’s degree from the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education at the City University of New York and his MD from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. After completing this rigorous dual degree program, Dr. Malekan completed residencies in general surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center and in cardiothoracic surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident in both institutions. In addition, Dr. Malekan served as a post-doctoral research fellow in the Harrison Department of Surgical Research at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Malekan has written on aortic dissection, cardiac bypass surgery as well as surgical treatment of heart failure. In addition, he has presented at national and international conferences including the American Heart Association.
