Dr. Mateo is a graduate of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where he also received his medical degree. He finished his general surgery residency at Rhode Island Hospital and went on to complete his vascular surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. He has a special interest and additional training in the field of endovascular surgery and in the minimally invasive treatment of vascular disease. Dr. Mateo is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Mateo is on the faculty of New York Medical College and holds the rank of assistant professor of surgery.
Dr. Mateo is a member of the American Medical Association, American Medical Student Association, Rhode Island Medical Society, and International Society for Endovascular Surgery and New York Society of Vascular Surgery.
Dr. Mateo is also a recipient of the Haffenreffer Award for Medical Science and the Resident Teaching Award, from New York Medical College at Westchester Medical Center.
