Dr. Ohira received his M.D. from Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine, Kyoto, Japan, where he also received his surgical training. Dr. Ohira received a Ph.D in Medicine from the Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine in Japan. He completed a Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, PA, with broad exposure to complex cardiac surgical cases and surgical management of heart failure.
Dr. Ohira has published on coronary artery bypass grafting, valve repair and valve replacement procedures, aortic dissection, as well as the surgical treatment of heart failure.
Dr. Ohira’s interests are coronary artery bypass grafting; valve surgery; surgery for the thoracic aorta and pulmonary artery; as well as surgery for heart failure, including cardiac transplantation, ventricular assist devices, and other mechanical circulatory support devices.
