After graduating as Valedictorian from Monsignor Farrell High School in Staten Island, Dr. Timmermans received his bachelor's degree from New York University and then his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine.
Dr. Timmermans completed his residency training, which included service as Chief Resident, at New York University Medical Center, where he also completed both his Cardiology Fellowship and Interventional Cardiology Fellowship.
He served as an Attending physician at St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn, NY and at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, CT.
Dr. Timmermans has a specific interest in the transradial artery cardiac catheterization approach which involves the insertion of catheters and stents through the wrist artery. The radial technique carries with it a significantly lower bleeding risk and improves patient comfort, as compared with working through the femoral artery in the groin
