Sarcoma Treatment

Our team offers compassionate care and personalized treatment plans for every patient. We work across disciplines to treat bone and soft tissue cancers with the goal of maintaining quality of life and achieving the best possible outcomes.

Your treatment plan may include:

  • Chemotherapy: Often used in combination with radiation or surgery, chemotherapy in our cancer treatment center may be used to kill cancer cells.
  • Immunotherapy: Some cancers may be treated by immunotherapy medications.
  • Limb salvage surgery: Our orthopaedic surgeons can manage many extremity tumors with surgery that maintains the limb.
  • Plastic surgery: Our plastic surgeons assist in performing complex reconstruction to optimize appearance and function following limb salvage surgery.
  • Radiation therapy: Radiation is a form of treatment that damages the DNA of cancer cells as a treatment method.
  • Brachytherapy: This form of internal radiation therapy can be used to treat certain tumors.

Clinical Trials for Bone & Soft Tissue Sarcomas

As a comprehensive cancer treatment center, we participate in a variety of clinical trials for the treatment of soft tissue and bone tumors. As members of the Children’s Oncology Group and the Pediatric Early Phase Clinical Trial Network (both of which are National Cancer Institute programs), we are one of a select group of institutions testing the effectiveness of new treatments in early phase clinical trials. Many of these pediatric clinical trials also enroll adults up to the age 40-50 year age range.

Visit our Clinical Research Program page for more information about open clinical trials.
