1917 Giving Society

12/31/1999

The origin of Westchester Medical Center dates back to 1917, when the U.S. Army established a hospital for treating returning WWI troops affected by the Spanish Influenza epidemic. A few years later, the Army returned the buildings to Westchester County as a fully equipped hospital. Ever since, our campus has been used to care for the critically ill and injured in our region.

The 1917 Society was established to thank and honor the special generosity of contributors who make noteworthy annual gifts to the Foundations in support of Westchester Medical Center, Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital and Behavioral Health Center at the following levels: Silver: $1,000 to $2,499 Gold: $2,500 to $4,999 Platinum: $5,000 to $9,999

If you give a one time annual donation of $1,000 or more, you have the opportunity to join the 1917 Society.

Please contact us by email at foundation@wcmc.com or by phone at 914.493.2575 with questions or for further information.

What is the Legacy Society?

The Legacy Society is a group of individuals who have included the Westchester Medical Center Foundation or Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital Foundation at WMC in their estate plans. As a member of the Legacy Society, you commit to strengthening our hospitals’ future by providing gifts that will support our nationally recognized advanced care to children and adults when they need us most.

Why should I become a Legacy Society member?

Many of those who have become Legacy Society members have been personally impacted by Westchester Medical Center or Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in some way. Some have not used our services, but know how critical those services are to the community at large, and want to ensure our level of medical excellence should they need to use those services. They trust us to be good stewards and to use their gifts in a way that most effectively and efficiently helps us carry out our mission of providing the best possible medical care.
