Cardiac Catheterization & Invasive Cardiology

The cardiac catheterization laboratory (also called the “cath lab”) is a specialized invasive procedure area where many of the invasive cardiac procedures are performed including: coronary and peripheral angiograms and angioplasties/stents, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, balloon valvuloplasty and endomyocardial biopsies.

The cardiac catheterization lab at Westchester Medical Center is staffed by highly trained physicians, registered nurses and technicians.  Westchester Medical Center has the most cardiac catheterization labs in the Hudson Valley and the only one with on site cardiothoracic surgery back-up in case of an emergency or need for urgent open heart surgery.
