Our 24-hour Emergency Department is part of the Regional Trauma and Burn Center for the entire Hudson Valley. We are fully staffed by experienced board-certified emergency room physicians, nurse practitioners, and critical care nurses, along with physicians in every medical specialty including pediatrics, cardiac care, neurology, neurosurgery and burns.
What Happens When I Arrive?
When you arrive at our Emergency Department, a triage nurse will obtain a brief medical history and take your vital signs including your blood pressure. Our registration clerk will need to obtain your name, address, other important medical information, and consent for treatment. You will be given an identification bracelet at this time.
Will I Need To Wait?
We know you are not feeling well. But we need to treat patients according to the severity of their illness or injury. Depending upon your condition and the number of patients in the emergency department, you may have to wait. Your triage nurse can be helpful in informing you as to what kind of wait, if any, you can expect.
What Can I Expect?
A nurse will be assigned to assist in your treatment and care. Laboratory tests and X-rays may be performed prior to your examination by a physician. The doctor will obtain your medical history and complete a physical examination. Further tests and specialist consultations for an accurate and thorough diagnosis may be ordered.
What Happens If I Am Discharged?
If you are treated and then discharged from our Emergency Department, you will receive follow-up instructions. We will also refer you to another physician, or you may choose to see your own doctor.
Can Your Fill My Prescription For Medication?
If medication is prescribed for you upon your discharge from the Emergency Department, you are responsible for getting the prescription filled. We are unable to fill prescriptions.
