Ongoing research projects include studies of oncogene expression Interleukin-6 and interferons, gene expression and cytokines, cerebral ischemia, genetics of nervous system development and chromosome structure, neuronal plasticity, neuronal excitability, growth control in skeletal muscle, signal transduction in platelets, retina, intracellular protein degradation, cytoskeletal and receptor function, development and regeneration of the visual system, mechanisms of spinal cord injury, extracellular matrices and limb development. Techniques utilized include tissue culture, yeast genetics, protein sequencing, protein chemistry, recombinant DNA technologies, digital image analysis, electron microscopy, electrophysiology and confocal microscopy.
