Dr. Bartell joined the faculty at the Mount Sinai Medical Center and the Mount Sinai School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics in 1998. He held several positions and participated in clinical care, training and education, and research. In the spring of 2004 Dr. Bartell joined the faculty at the Weil Cornell College of Medicine and the staff of Memorial Sloan Kettering as a child and adolescent psychiatrist and senior member and team leader of the Pediatric Psychosocial Care Program. While in Pediatric Psychosocial Care, he worked for almost 12 years with children, teens and young adults, with their families, who were undergoing treatment of cancer.

In January 2016 Dr. Bartell joined the staff of the Westchester Medical Center as the Director of Pediatric Psychiatry at the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital and the Associate Director of the Department of Psychiatry overseeing child and adolescent psychiatry. He has participated in research and published extensively in many areas of pediatric psychosomatic medicine including palliative care, delirium, bone marrow transplantation and psycho-oncology.

Research Interest: communication skills in clinical medicine, quality of life aspects of pediatric illnesses, pediatric psychopharmacology
