Dr. Seigo Nishida has practiced in Transplant Surgery for over 20 years. Dr. Nishida is a graduate of Kagoshima University School of Medicine in Kagoshima, Japan, where he also earned his PhD in Transplant Research. He completed his residency training at Kagoshima University Hospital and fellowship in multi-organ transplantation at University of Miami / Jackson Memorial Hospital. Following his fellowship training, Dr. Nishida was an Attending at Jackson Memorial Hospital, University of Miami Hospital and Broward General Hospital. He worked as Professor of Clinical Surgery at University of Miami, School of Medicine.
Prior to joining WMC, Dr. Nishida was at the University of Miami / Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami Transplant Institute (MTI), one of the busiest adult and pediatric liver transplant centers in the country. There he served as the Interim Director of Liver and GI Transplant and Associate Director of the Adult Intestinal Transplant program. During his time in Miami, there were more than 4000 liver transplants, including 660 pediatric liver transplants, with 120 to 240 adult liver transplants a year.
Dr. Nishida is a prolific researcher with over 150 peer reviewed publications and over 250 presentations to his credit. His principal research interests include liver transplantation, intestinal transplantation, and natural killer based immunotherapy for liver cancer in liver transplant patients. Dr. Nishida is Professor of Surgery at New York Medical College.
